Oprah’s Latest Cult
I’ll be honest, I’m a little intrigued by “A New Earth”, but since my reading list is already long enough as is, I’ll have to hold off until sometime this summer. I suppose the reason I find myself so intrigued is that I don’t understand the hype. You would think that Oprah had just created world peace or something from the advertisements.
From what I’m understanding, the book talks about the miserable state of humanity and our potential to create a more ‘loving’ world by understanding our current ego-based state of consciousness and replacing it with a ‘new’ consciousness. Sounds like your typical pretentious New Age babble, but I’m sure the kicks I’ll get from trying to focus my energy on getting through this attempt at intellectual depth will be well worth it. I mean, one of the listed qualifications for this guy is “spiritual leader.” LOL.
I’m convinced that Oprah has decided that conquering television, radio and print was no match compared to the prospects of conquering the globe with her own cult.

only a spiritual mind and maturity will enable human beings to continue to be human, and not behave like the beast of the field. Sprituality is not religion, but religion can be the beginning of spiritual growth. When Paul said, “Let this mind be in you…the same that was in Christ Jesus…” What is he inviting you to..? What is the true potential of the Human being if the potential to do what “God” does is not within us.
Oprah only repeated what is found in all of the scriptures…that the potential of the human is to “reflect” God. People have been so dumbed down that they have literally signed over their birth rights. I think that it is an isult to charge her with starting a cult… By your standards, the christian church, judaism and islam are all big fat cults…but from what I have been able to uncover from my experiences, each human being will soon have to grow into the “mind” to be responsible for his or her own thinking and actions to a point when we will no longer need any of the “holy books.” Human beings will function from the nature in which we are created. That is the definition of “Heaven.”
Thank you.

It’s all tongue in cheek.
I couldn’t disagree with you more that humans can ever reach a point where they will have no need for divine guidance or that heaven is not a literal place, rather a state where humans can ‘function from the nature in which we are created’.
Regardless of what you choose to believe, human beings are entirely dependent on their Creator for everything, and it is only natural that they look to Him for guidance and worship. Our entire purpose is to worship Him alone, which is why I find it extremely arrogant when humans seem to think of themselves as independent, when your every breath is by His will. We should be humbled by the fact that we can’t even give life to a fly if we wanted to, yet our Lord has created everything in the heavens and the Earth. We can’t even think to compare ourselves to Him like you have.
God has revealed scriptures and sent us prophets as a mercy to mankind, instead of leaving us to figure things out ourselves. I encourage you to look into pure Islam as taught by the last messenger, Muhammed (peace be upon him).

People are starting to become mindless boobs thats why it is so easy for cults to recruit so many followers. They are so hungry for Truth but are too selfish to really live the truth. The Bible teaches truth and morals but because people rather live in perversion its easier to reject the Bible. Instead they’d rather listen to some idiot who tells them that they dont have a soul and that they are their own god or some other stupid radom chatter that came to him while sitting homeless in a park. People are quick to run and spread ignorance but when it comes the teaching of Truth they want to take it up in court to shut you up. The christian voice is slowly being taken away while the voice of the wicked gets louder. If the ACLU has anything to do with it we wont be able to pray in the church or mention God or Jesus, but the spread of ignorance will forever be protected by the law. Wake up Oprah!!! With friends like Maya Angelou one would think you’d know a fake and a fraud when you hear one. You claim you know who the true living God is and you believe in angels and spirits but yet you are promoting blasphemy…. Youve been hangin with Tom too long.
