And for 100…
To finish off the last list I started, inshaAllah.
51. This should have been #1 by far, but I guess I thought it was a given. I feel so blessed to be a Muslim, and to have been born into a practicing family, with parents who instilled a love of Allah and His messenger in me from a young age. I like to think that if I had been born into a non-Muslim family, I would have discovered Islam myself, but that doesn’t take away how thankful I am to Allah azza wa jaal for choosing this deen for me.
52. I’m a night person by nature, but many days I still stay up after fajr.
53. I’m a picky eater. I’d probably have better luck listing the foods I will eat than trying to list what I won’t.
54. And I don’t really like red meat. So I’m pretty vegetarian without actually trying.
55. I like stability. But I hate routine and predictability. I think that makes sense.
56. I love to read. But I own way more books than I could possibly finish. I also think life is too short to force yourself to finish a crappy book, so I have plenty of half finished books too. I could spend days in a bookstore or a library.
57. I’m a light sleeper. I can respond to people talking to me while I’m sleeping. I can also control what happens in my dreams, which is pretty neat.
58. I believe cartoons are some of the best social and political commentary on television. Family Guy, the Simpson, Boondocks. I’m serious.
59. I can knit. And crochet. And sew. I’m also not a grandma lol
60. I’m more of a listener than speaker.
61. I’m a pretty decent cook, but I can bake like nobody’s business. I wish I could cook like my mom though, whipping something out of nothing, even when there’s an empty fridge and a few things in the cupboard. I’m sure it’s a mom thing.
62. A lot of people assume I’m from the Middle East. I’m guessing it’s because so many people tend to confuse Arab and Muslim, and assume all Muslims must be Arab. I remember trying to explain to someone not too long ago that yes, you can be Muslim *and* African.
63. I know I said I don’t wear logos in one of my other lists, but yes, I own one of those terrible TNA purses with their logo splattered all over it. I felt the need to confess that, but in all honesty, I just needed a giant bag to hold all of my books and notebooks and stuff. My backpack was being held together by safety pins and buttons, so I felt it was time for an upgrade.
64. I’m big on history and politics. Anyone who reads my blog has probably picked up on that lol.
65. I still have a library book from 1996. It was one of the ‘Bailey School Kids’ mystery novels, owed to Charles H. Hulse public school in Ottawa. Yikes.
66. I think my blog is under appreciated. I write for me, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read any of my ramblings, but it would be nice to see more commenting!
67. I have a pretty dry sense of humour. I also tend to get the most amusement out of things I observe.
68. I used to be a starter on the school basketball team. But I hated team and locker room drama, so I stopped playing. Not to mention I started wearing skirts, making things more complicated.
69. So yeah, I love sports. But oddly enough, I can’t seem to get into the NBA. NHL, NFL, CFL, MLB… heck, I’ll even watch lacrosse and track. I’d watch gymnastics if it had defense.
70. I’m a huge Ottawa Senators fan.
71. The only time I’m ever self-conscious is when I walk past the old ladies at the masjid. I hate being judged.
72. I’m kind of crazy, but I’m also a little quiet. Which means you’d have to really get to know me to know the extent of my madness.
73. When I’m married and have children, I never want to be too far away from my parents. I want my children to be able to spend time with their grandparents. It’s something I missed out on, and I would never do that to my kids.
74. I consider myself a feminist. Not the crazy, man hating, bra burning feminist stereotype. I believe in equity and equality for women around the world, and I think that’s something most people agree with.
75. I love days where I can just lounge around the house in PJs. And slippers.
76. After being stressed out with work and being busy beyond belief, I’ve had way too much time to know what to do with it. I got so used to having something to do, that now that it’s over, I don’t even know what to do with myself.
77. I enjoy spending time with my family.
78. I’m actually a lot younger than most people think I am. But I’m an old soul.
79. The idea of having in-laws some day makes me nervous. Especially a mother in law.
80. I hope that my life’s work will be to help people.
81. I will always stand by what is right and speak the truth, regardless of what happens to me as a result.
82. I tend to leave stuff to the last minute. I still get things done, but it’s a terrible habit.
83. I wear contacts. The only glasses I can tolerate are sunglasses, anything else and I look like an idiot.
84. My handwriting is pretty distinctive. If you’ve seen it once, and then one day randomly see it on the street somewhere, I’m sure you’d recognize it.
85. I come from a pretty huge family, especially from my mom’s side. I like the idea of having a giant family reunion, but with all of us being spread across the globe, it makes things a little difficult.
86. I’m sensitive to certain scents. I hate it when someone is wearing a lot of cologne or perfume in the room, since my head hurts for hours after. Axe is the worst!
87. I love the feeling of freshly clean sheets against my skin when I’m in going to bed.
88. I put hot sauce on everything.
89. I like the feeling of a new year. Resolutions aren’t my thing, but just the feeling of having a fresh new year full of potential is exciting.
90. I get cold easily.
91. I have a great memory, but I’m pretty terrible with names. I don’t know why that is.
92. I love watching the sun rise and set. SubhanAllah.
93. If any of you were wondering what on earth Jabberwerky and I were saying in the last list, we were joking about the words to a Lewis Carroll poem called ‘Jabberwocky‘. It’s from the sequel to the Alice in Wonderland book. And the poem makes absolutely no sense, much like Jabberwerky, who happens to be my little brother ;)
94. I can be an impatient driver, but really, who wouldn’t be with some of the people I see on the road.
95. But most of the time, I’m a pretty laid back and easy going person. It takes a lot for me to get upset or angry.
96. I’ve always wanted to do one of those long distance runs, like a half marathon or something. Someday, I might just do it.
97. I’ve also always wanted to tip over a cow.
98. I’ve never had anyone close to me die.
99. I don’t want to have a wedding. My parents didn’t, and I used to think they were insane as a kid. But I understand it now.
100. I’m actually surprised that I’ve been able to come up with a list of 100 somewhat interesting things about myself. And I also realize that this is a terrible way of ending my list.

Assalam Safia, I read your blog and Im not surprised that you were able to come up with 100 things about yourself. In fact, I expect you to able to produce that many points about yourself cause if you cant than who can?
By the way, some of points you mentioned in your list resemble some that were on mine. Are you stealing from my list lol? Just jokin inshAllah
Keep up the good work and make dou’aa for me and the believers inshAllah.
